General aim The aim of this project is to conduct a literature review on risk factors associated with suicide amongst Pacific (Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands and Niue) Adolescents (10-24 years) in New Zealand. Objective To identify social and environmental influences (peer pressure, media, family circumstances, relationship problems (family, partner, sibling, friend, work), mental illness and other factors that shape suicide risk factors among adolescents. To Identify approaches that reduce risk factors, enhance protective factors and reduce access to means of suicide.
