Lay summary
I will develop specific qualitative research skills within the Tiakina project, focusing on tikanga and matauranga Maori models of wellbeing for whanau. Full-time, on-the-job training alongside the principal investigator, senior researchers, and community researchers will draw a depth of practical research experience, and provide a range of introductory research skills relevant to project management and community health research opportunities.
Key tasks include supporting researchers to carry out participant interviews; conducting an overall online literature scan and review; developing secure digital resource portals; developing general presentation outputs; co-ordinating research team activities; participating at four research training workshops; and attending three national hui. Significantly, I will have access to the wisdom and approaches of a diverse range of people who have depth knowledge in tikanga and childrearing practices, who support the wellbeing of tamariki and whanau.
