Lay summary
This study invests in the adaption of the Youth Services Survey for Youth (YSS_Y) tool (California, Department of Mental Health, Systems of Care, 2005) to a Maori relevant measurement that will capture the views of Maori rangatahi, who accessed DHB, CAMHS. Through this measurement, their contributions are intended to improve the access, engagement and the appropriate delivery of CAMHS to Maori rangatahi and therefore better health outcomes for them. This study will build on the findings of a previous study in which the Youth Satisfaction Survey for Families (YSS_F) tool (Brunk, Liao, Santiago & Ewell, 1998), for caregivers to complete, that measures CAMHS responsiveness for Maori whanau, was modified. Both surveys have national relevance for the delivery of appropriate CAMHS for Maori in kaupapa Maori and mainstream DHB, CAMHS.
