Lay summary
This PhD will be a part of the Dietary Interventions: Evidence & Translation (DIET 2) programme with the National Institute for Health Innovation (NIHI) and the University of Auckland (UoA). The first objective of this PhD project is to conduct qualitative interviews through a grounded theory approach to explore the importance Māori whānau place on nutrition, the challenges whānau experience with respect to healthy eating and how public health nutrition interventions are perceived by whānau. The second objective will be to evaluate how the four DIET2 projects align with Māori perspectives and aspirations for healthy eating in relation to the theoretical framework developed from objective 1.
