Lay summary
Telemental health care or e-Mental health (eMH) has played a vital role in delivering mental health care during the COVID-19 pandemic, and its utility and coverage are likely to increase in the future. International evidence suggests that eMH has a lot to offer to Aotearoa/New Zealand. However, there is still much we need to know about its effectiveness and efficacy in the New Zealand context, particularly in regard to Māori, Pasifika, Asian, and other ethnic minority groups. This research activation project will allow the research team to connect with the mental health and addictions sector, with whom it will set up priorities for a co-developed eMH research agenda. This eMH research agenda will focus on setting up ways forward that will ensure eMH contributes to reducing mental health and mental health care access inequities in New Zealand.
