Lay summary
Manaaki Tairawhiti is an iwi-led place-based initiative mandated to reduce service silos, and centre whānau voices in its work. Key result areas are housing, addiction, child wellbeing, and family violence. Often working with disenfranchised whānau who are understandably wary of government agencies and health services, our focus is to reduce barriers to access by creating direct and whanau-led pathways to support to achieve their wellbeing goals. Manaaki Navigators are the lifeblood of this approach. Their remit is to respond to whānau priorities, and to gather data on outcomes, to identify systemic barriers and illuminate potential improvements in best practice support systems. The aims of this project are: (1)To complete a thematic analysis of the Whānau Voices data of the last 3 years, to identify a.The dominant themes from needs identified most frequently by whānau b.The themes arising from unmet needs identified by navigators and whānau c.Systemic barriers to access to health, education, welfare
