Lay summary
The MRINZ is the highest ranked academic organisation in NZ based on the quality and impact of its research. Our research has led to major advances in knowledge and changes in practice in NZ and globally, leading to improved health outcomes. Our research is based on international and national research networks, and is underpinned by fastidious clinical trial monitoring and oversight. With ongoing IRO funding the MRINZ will seek to consolidate its existing structure and productivity, and strengthen its capability to deliver the NZ Health Research Strategy. Priorities include harnessing clinical trials to provide the knowledge needed to improve health equity in NZ, building the diverse clinical health research workforce in NZ, supporting NZ health research organisations to meet internationally recognised benchmarks for data transparency and governance standards, taking a leadership role in knowledge translation, strengthening linkages across the research community, and contributing to a more equitable health research system.
