Lay summary
As an undergraduate student taking a bachelor of health science, I have developed a great interest in the health issues I have explored in my papers about Pasifika health issues. My career and research objectives will be centred on health and Pasifika communities. My involvement in this project is an opportunity to explore and gain a full understanding of mental health issues affecting Pasifika. Most importantly, I have the opportunity to develop and improve my skill in conducting a systematic literature review. The review of the literature will identify gaps in the current mental health services including services for depression. This review will inform questions and issues needed to be explored in a qualitative exploration of the social construct of depression through Samoan’s lenses and worldviews.
