Lay summary
The aim of this project is to determine the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the Cook Islands by conducting a systematic literature review of NCDs in the Pacific and undertaking a clinical audit of NCDs in the Cook Islands. This study will identify the age and gender distribution of NCDs in the Cook Islands, and discuss preventative and management strategies to address these. Upon completion of this project I will have a better understanding of the burden of NCDs in the Cook Islands and some of the strategies that address risk factors associated with NCDs in the Cook Islands, whether that be through the modification of current initiatives, or the creation of new entities.
